We are updating our complete real estate listings this week. While doing so, we discovered that we have just less than 60 million euro worth of resale property in La Zenia, Cabo Roig and Playa Flamenca. This does not include new properties of course or property in other regions of Spain. We really are the experts in the region. I thought that was just a sales pitch but its' actually true!
Beat Ryanair
We love Ryanair. No company has done more to promote real estate in Spain, by making it just so easy to get here than the Irish carrier. That said, we've all suffered at the hands of the mean girl in Alicante airport telling us our bag is too big when we actually bought it precisely to fit the overhead bins or even the 5 euro web check in fee. How else can I check in? Anyway, through Marta in Solbank or Banco Sabodell as they are changing their name to,we've found a way to avoid paying the 10 euro credit card fee for each leg of the journey. Solbank have a prepaid Mastercard which has a zero charge to book your Ryanair flights. At least it did up until Mick O'Leary reads this! This card though is also the safest possible way to make purchases online and for security reason perfect for travel too. Easyjet
I was on an Easyjet flight last week form Newcastle to Alicante and my neighbour had a plan to fix Ryanair. The last time he was on a Ryanair flight it cost 5 euro for a can of beer he told me, so in protest at the inflated price he only had one. Easyjet it appears were one euro cheaper for the same beer so on this flight, he had 2! We all have to think of inspirational ways to beat the recession!
Welcome Denmark...
Or Danmark as you call it! My back still hurts from planting those tiny "Poinsettia Plants" in Randers in the hot, hot summer of 1995. All is forgiven though, I did enjoy it and we do enjoy working with our Danish clients.

El Vale Motivated Seller
Back to properties and the recession. We've listed a two bed two bath apartment on the stunning El Vale resort from a motivated seller recently. This investor paid 262,000 plus costs for the property from us in 2007. He will now accept a price of 125,000 euro but better still, wait for the terms he'll take ....

Over recent months payment from Knights for policies sold to clients has become later and later culminating in a situation whereby now Knights are unable to hand over premiums for policies sold since June 2010. This is no longer acceptable to Ibex or to Lloyd's and as such on Monday 18th October we ceased trading with Knight Insurance Brokers SA.
New School
Many of us are smart enough already but for the little people in the area who still have to go to school, the corner stone for the new Orihuela Costa school has been laid on November 11th by the Mayor of Orihuela, Monica Lorente.
Did you know that if an Irish child spends two years or more in education in Spain, they are not obliged to learn Irish when they return and they don't have to sit the leaving certificate to enter university! Why did I not move here when I was 12? Also, it's sunny here.
Golf Inspection Trips
Clients or agents interested in incorporating a golf game or two into their inspection visit can now do so through our short term rental department. It makes sense for golfers to try out the course when they are purchasing and we leave enough time free for the work side of purchasing - arranging bank and lawyer meetings and of course the viewing themselves.

Anti Social Behaviour
I knew it would happen. Entrepreneur.com are this month running an article called "Is it time for you to become antisocial?" Many small and medium size businesses are learning that the time they spend networking on Twitter, Facebook etc does not actually bring in any new business.
Clients, in the U.S. at least are more interested in meeting sellers and distributors face to face and are basing their purchase decisions on solid business practice rather than flashy I.T. and empty promises.
It is good news for a company like ours as we'd always prefer to use references from happy clients rather than try to "virtually impress" potential buyers. If you've been more impressed by someone else's web presence than by ours, I think we can now take that as a compliment.

Banks
The banking sector in Spain, just as wherever you live is going through some changes. We have a list of banks that are better than others for say, new properties, interest only, mortgages to retired people,easy to pay off loans etc. Just because one particular bank is not keen to deal with you does not mean that we cant find finance in almost every case. If you're looking for finance, please let us know and we'll do our best for you.
Now, Is The Time To Buy
An Irish economist who was the only person in the property industry to label the housing market a bubble said last week that now is the right time for new buyers to enter the market according to Charlie Weston in the Irish Independent.
Derek Brawn, whose book on the property market predicted the bursting of the bubble, claims that optimal time to buy a house is not at the bottom of the market but just before the market hit the bottom. It appears that we are about to hit the bottom so buy now!

Hercules Update
The month started perfectly with David Trezeguet's opener in the 3rd minute in our home game against Real Madrid. Christiano, as Marca insists on calling him, rolled over every blade of grass in Alicante clutching his mentally injured face but still scored two in Madrid's 1-3 win however.
Worse followed last week with a 0-3 reversal to Osasuma in the Basque country.
Relief flowed last Sunday when we beat Real Sociedad 2-1, with Trezeguet netting again. Maybe, we'll just about do enough to stay up and the French man's goals could be the difference.
Increase Your Portfolio
We have one particular investor client who purchased no less than 3 properties on La Torre for about 200,000 euro each three years ago. They like all properties world wide have depreciated greatly.
Rather than selling however, he is buying three more apartments so that his portfolio of 6 properties willcost him 1,000,000 rather than a portfolio of 3 properties costing him 600,000 euro.
It makes sense actually and means he needs much less of an upturn in the market to get back profitable. We like that sort of thinking and can help finance people wishing to purchase again rather than selling, once you can prove a reasonable income. Good to see people have faith in the market.
